Snow Glass Apples - Visual Development Project

This is a personal Visual Development project based on the 1994 short story, "Snow Glass Apples" by Neil Gaiman. The story is a take on the classic Snow White fairytale told from the perspective of the Queen.

The main conceit is to retell the short story by setting it in the late Qing Dynasty. The central focus would be the relationship of the two main characters - The Queen and Snow White.

The general idea is to tell the story through 4 seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.
More concept works to come.

Spring - This is the beginning of the story as the young concubine first arrives in the Palace. The idea is to show opulence and optimism. The portrait in the back is that of the previous deceased concubine. It serves as a subtle hint for whats to come.
